Check out the 2007 National Camp Video 2007 Camp Update FCA summer camp is an annual experience where we have the opportunity to see God work in big ways. This year marked another very successful boys and girls sport camp in Santa Barbara over the week of July 3-7. Over 700 junior high and high school students flocked in from all over California and the rest of the country to participate in their chosen sport and learn more about Christ. Many students came just to participate in a sport that they are passionate about, but God used this opportunity to work on their hearts. Each student becomes a part of a “ huddle” for the week where they spend time with other athletes their age and are lead by a college athlete who is on fire for the Lord. Our entire Orange County staff participated in the camp and helped out with everything from equipment and huddle leaders, to program, clinics and students. We were able to witness over 175 kids come to Christ for the first time, It was amazing! Due to donations and fundraising in Orange County, we were able to send 65 kids to camp on full scholarship. These were kids who were unable to pay for camp on their own, but benefited tremendously from being there. What a blessing to be able to watch kids have such joy and passion for learning more about Christ. Our prayer for the school year is that some students who attended camp from Orange County step up to be leaders at their schools and in their campus huddles. Thank you for your prayers and support as we watched God work at camp this sumer.
Camp Ministry
Our sports camps are designed to encourage and challenge the high school athlete (age 13-18). We strive to offer the highest quality coaching and instruction from professional athletes and coaches, college athletes and coaches, and high school coaches. Our Sports Camps are located on the Division 1 campus of University of California, Santa Barbara. The campers will stay overnight in the UCSB dorms. Each camper will receive an FCA Camp t-shirt and Bible. We also desire to challenge and encourage the student athletes on a relational and spiritual level. Each camper is placed in a Huddle (small group) for the week, led by a college athlete within his or her sport. This Huddle Leader will lead them in Biblical discussions based on our theme for the week. These small groups provide fun, new friendships and lively, safe places to ask important questions about life. Our desire is to equip athletes to compete in their sport to the best of their ability, and to live their lives to the fullest.
Our Boys Camp offers 11 different sports including Basketball, Baseball, Football, Golf, Lacrosse, Soccer, Sprint and Distance Training, Surfing, Tennis, Water Polo, and Wrestling.
Our Girls Camp offers 12 different sports including Basketball, Golf, Lacrosse, Tennis, Soccer, Softball, Sprint and Distance Training, Swimming, Surfing, Volleyball, Wrestling and Water Polo.
Note: Our Boys Camp and Girls Camp are held on the same facility but have separate housing, separate programs and separate clinics, with the exception of Sprint and Distance, Golf, Swimming and Water Polo, which share facilities. |
